November 15, 2010
This was a frustrating day overall. The infection flared up again and forced the doctors to remove all of the cadaver skin. On the upside of the entire situation, Mom no longer has bacteria infecting her blood. The current issue is the bacteria that is running rampant in her tissue and remaining skin. We have to conquer ALL of it before she can begin to heal. As we saw with the jump in white blood cell count today, the antibiotic being used to fight the surface bacteria was no longer working. She is now being giving penicillin to fight the bacteria that is resistant to everything else at this point. Please pray that this works and that she can finally kick all of the bacteria.

If I was small enough I'd walk up to that bacteria and punch it right in the face!!
ReplyDeleteHang in there Nadine... every roller coaster ride slows down and stops at some point. You'll get through this and - until you do - we will all be here cheering you on. We love you and miss you so so much!
Megan, you can count on Aunt Jo and Aunt Cheryl to be on your team - you "punch it right in the face" and we will kick it in the butt. We know how much you love Nadine too and pray for God's Grace to get us all through this.
ReplyDeleteI am excited to hear the bacteria is out of her blood. It was discouraging that the cadaver skin was rejected though. Hopefully, they can start growing her own skin soon. It seems that the graft of her own skin is the only one that's taking. I know this team will not give up on her and neither will her family and friends. We will continue the nightly Rosaries to strengthen us and send the healing love and light of God to her. All baby steps are appreciated and we thank God for watching over her. Call if you need anything. Love you all.
